partypoker sponsored pro Johnny Lodden said he’s looking forward to the event and sees it as a chance to prove Norwegians have the edge among Nordic players. The 32-year-old poker pro, who has earned more than $2.6 million in live cashes since he started playing live in 2004, said: “This is a great opportunity for players right across the Nordic region to qualify online for a huge event. A €1 million guarantee is amazing so this is very exciting. It’s fair to say that Nordic players are among the best in the world so this will certainly be a challenge but I’m looking forward to it.”
partypoker LIVE President John Duthie said: “Prague is such a great place to be in December – great festive atmosphere – and the influx of hundreds of Nordic players is certainly going to add to that. Nordic players are not just excellent at poker, but are also pretty good at partying so this will certainly be a fun event. I imagine it will be a tough field though – I’m not sure how I’d fancy my chances if I found myself sitting at a table full of Nordics! I expect we’ll see a lot of the big names coming along, but this also is a great opportunity for recreational Nordic players to compete for a very big prize pool in a great location.”
The Nordic Poker Championships is one of a series of regional Championship events being hosted by partypoker LIVE. Next month is the €1 million guaranteed German Poker Championships taking place at Kings Casino in Rozvadov from 6th August. The CAD $2 million guaranteed Canadian Poker Championships is scheduled for 8th September.
